Welcome to Camel Festival of Bikaner

The Bikaner Camel Festival is an annual celebration dedicated to the “Ship of the Desert,” showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan. Organized by the Department of Tourism, the 2026 festival is scheduled from January 09th to 11th in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

The festival will commence with a vibrant procession of adorned camels, starting from the historic Junagarh Fort and proceeding through the main streets of Bikaner, culminating at the Dr. Karni Singh Stadium. This spectacle features camels decorated with traditional jewelry and fabrics, accompanied by their handlers in colorful attire.

Throughout the festival, various competitions and events will highlight the significance of camels in Rajasthani culture. Attendees can look forward to:

    • Camel Races: Witness the speed and endurance of camels as they compete on the racetrack.
    • Camel Dance Performances: Observe camels displaying graceful movements in sync with traditional music.
    • Camel Decoration and Fur Cutting Competitions: Admire the creativity in camel adornment and fur designs.
    • Camel Milking: Learn about the traditional methods of camel milking.
    • Camel Acrobatics: Enjoy performances showcasing the agility and training of camels.

In addition to camel-centric activities, the festival will feature cultural performances, including traditional Rajasthani folk dances and music, providing a glimpse into the region’s artistic traditions. A craft bazaar will offer local handicrafts, and a food court will serve authentic Rajasthani cuisine, allowing visitors to immerse themselves fully in the local culture.

The festival venues include Junagarh Fort, Karni Singh Stadium, the Camel Farm, Raisar Sand Dunes, and the old city of Bikaner. Events are scheduled from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM daily, and entry is free for all attendees.

For those planning to attend, the nearest airport is Naal, approximately 20 kilometers from Bikaner. The Bikaner railway station is conveniently located just 1 kilometer from the city center.
